LOW PAY MARKETS

Check out any market before you submit work. Preditors and Editors is a good place to research any "problem" markets. Also check some of the other sites listed in the scams section.
Links to guidelines are labeled [LOW PAY] and [PAY MKT] as of last information received.
Some entries are brief one-line entries with minimal information. Check the online guidelines for additional information.
Most markets noted will accept electronic queries and/or submissions. We clearly label markets that we know do not accept e-mail queries or submissions.
A rough idea of what the market pays is given in the synopsis, if known.
"Low pay" markets pay less than $25/item or less than $0.05/wd. Some markets are listed with "low pay" that have not explicitly stated their pay rates on site. If our judgment call was wrong about your market, drop us a note giving your pay rates and we will update our information.
Whether the market pays "on publication" or "on acceptance" is noted in the multi-line entries: [OA][OP], if known.
Rights purchased may also be noted.
Markets come and go. Be sure to check with the market for changes in needs and publishing status before submitting.

L. Ron Hubbard's Writers of the Future Contest - Fiction
[CONTEST - no entry fee] SF, fantasy and horror with fantastic elements. Prose up to 17K wds. Three prizes each quarter: $1000- $750 - $500. ongoing quarterly deadline. "only to those who have not professionally published a novel or short novel, or more than one novelette, or more than three short stories, in any medium." E-sub OK.
